Free Vote Foundation provided the professional foundations and methodological background for the “Second Hungarian Citizen Election Report”, which analyses the integrity of the 2026 parliamentary elections and democratic legal practice. We also coordinated the report-writing work of the collaborating organisations. Hungarian media reported widely on the completed report and its findings.

 

The report found that, even if election day itself may be technically sound, electoral integrity is fundamentally threatened by an unequal campaign environment and systemic advantages in resources (for example, the conflation of the state and the party, media dominance, disinformation campaigns and opaque campaign finance rules).

Raising electoral awareness and maintaining a legally informed civic presence are indispensable for democratic oversight.
